Solferino North Ambulatory Surgical Center
Gallery
The Solferino North development is a revitalization of a challenging site and existing building that will serve as a center for state-of-the-art dental surgeries. The design approach was to preserve the building structure while demolishing the envelope and replacing it with a modern curtainwall designed to respond to the solar exposure of the various building elevations. The glazing is patterned with a vertical linear acid etching which varies in density-dependent on its relationship to the sun, as well as the program of the space which it encloses. There are some entirely clear areas of glazing located primarily in public spaces. These moments provide relief to the vertical pattern and create a compositional balance of the exterior expression of the building. Semi-gloss white metal panels complete the exterior material palette. In addition to the redesign of the building skin, all the building systems will be revamped or replaced to accommodate the modern building and program.
