Three of Andre Johnson Architects’ projects were recognized with design excellence citation awards as part of the Phil Freelon Professional Design Awards presentation at the National Organization of Minority Architects 50^th anniversary conference held from October 20-23. The North Carolina A&T State University Community and Urban Food Processing Facility received an award in the un-built category, which acknowledges excellence in design for projects which are yet to be constructed. This project is currently in documentation, with construction set to begin in mid 2022. Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and the Excelsior Jazz Club, Hotel, and Museum design each received an award in the vision category which highlights unrealized projects. We are honored by the jury’s recognition.
