Baucom Elementary School
Project Gallery
Boasting continuous academic growth, a seasoned faculty, inspiring leadership, and a high-functioning parent organization, Baucom Elementary School is a highly desired public school located in the heart of Apex, North Carolina. Natural aspects of the site are celebrated and amplified. The concept of the tree house is an integral part of the design approach as it allows for connectivity between users of the space and the site’s existing willow tree. The street elevation and entry sequence becomes focal point of architectural expression while the brick texture mitigate perceived scale by minimizing vertical massing. A vibrant and colorful interior environment is visible to the exterior in strategic locations to create juxtapostion of interior and exterior expression.
